Some laugh and make mockery of Zimbabwe and act as though America is in better shape financially. May I remind you that Zimbabwe is in better shape.

Morning Edition, March 16, 2006 reads “Faced with a potential government shutdown, the Senate votes to raise the nation's debt limit for the fourth time in five years…The debt now stands at more than $8.2 trillion…When President Bush took office five years ago, the national debt was at $5.6 trillion; since then, big budget surpluses have collapsed into huge deficits, and the debt has shot up nearly 50 percent…Treasury Secretary John Snow wrote congressional leaders last week, imploring them to immediately raise the $8.2 trillion debt limit. The House has put the new limit at $9 trillion."

The Associated Press headlines “Experts warn that heavy debt threatens American economy”...You owe $145,000. And the bill is rising every day. …The biggest trade deficit is with China, too, at $162 billion. Japan is next, at $75 billion…In a very real sense, the U.S. economy is dependent on the central banks of Japan, China and other nations to invest in U.S. Treasuries and keep American interest rates down. The low rates here keep American consumers buying imported goods…That's how much it would cost every American man, woman and child to pay the tab for the long-term promises the U.S. government has made to creditors, retirees, veterans and the poor…And it's not even taking into account credit card bills, mortgages — all the debt we've racked up personally. Savings? The average American puts away barely $1 of every $100 earned."

May the Ancestors bless Zimbabwe with wisdom, unity, and faith. The people of Zimbabwe have spoken: they prefer President Mugabe. Work and quarrel together as a family, respect your Elders even in your criticism. Attack the policies if you may not the individual. Reconciliation at all times is an ancient African tradition of jurisprudence.

Just a word from a descendant of African Slaves in America.

Itso

I understand the good brother up there but he did not need to play the race card. One needs to be in Zimbabwe to know how Mugabe has soiled a good country. It must be clear as well that we did not vote him-he rigged all previous elections in the past decade.
People are starving and of course sanctions and bad policies have contributed to this.
We are not comparing ourselves with America-we are saying we deserve better as Zimbabweans and that is what we want. A new future without the old man. THank you

ken

Its sad we laugh at Zimbabwe. This is not a hollywood script but reality
